Plumbers and Lawyers

If I had a dollar for every time someone says to me “why do plumbers
cost as much as lawyers”, well you know the saying.

Why do plumbers cost so much?

Good, experienced, quality plumbers have completed 4 years of
apprentice schooling, a minimum of 5 years of practical experience,
carry a set of tools that will rival any good auto mechanic.

That shiny truck sitting outside is filled with tools and stock worth at
least $ 20,000.00. His uniform is clean, he is well groomed.

You saw an ad in a paper, a flyer in the mail, a website on the
internet.

Of course there are worker’s compensation and general liability
insurance costs to factor into that price we charge.

There is a person that answered the phone and made your
appointment, they are part of the price too. And my guys drink a lot
of coffee.

Now there are a lot of people out there that say to themselves, I don’t
need to pay those high prices, I have a friend of a friend, who knows
this guy, who works out of the trunk of his car that does great work.

What happens when the work he did for you at a bargain price leaks
next week? Think he will be around to fix it? Make good on any
damages he created?
